HOLISTICALLY MINDFUL

Since my teenage years when my aunt introduced me to some simple ways to eat more healthily, I have been eager to learn more about the power of food. In the early 2000s, I was diagnosed, unfortunately too late, with an ovarian tumor which led to a surgery that kept me ill for months. Desperate to feel better when conventional medicine was not helping me, I began educating myself more about how I could help my body heal itself. Adhering to a strict macrobiotics diet finally got me back on my feet after months of suffering. From that day, I continued to leisurely educate myself about alternative medicine, homeopathy, naturopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic medicine and the power of food in general. I also started to eat a vegetarian diet in 2006.
It was also in 2006, after extensive research, that I was able to find a way to heal my daughter from severe OCD using natural supplements, and working with an homeopath.
However, it was not until 2009, when I was diagnosed with 2 autoimmune diseases, that I seriously started researching and understanding the true power of using not only food but other methods such as acupuncture and working to remove subconscious beliefs to help reduce symptoms of inflammation, hormones, and most other ailments. While working with my doctor, I decided to take charge of my own health and paid close attention to my diet and my lifestyle, digging into the root cause of my symptoms. I was eventually able to get off corticosteroids entirely and got rid of most of my symptoms. 16 years later, I still am off medications and both auto immune diseases have stayed in remission.

While aware of the effects that stress and being overworked had on the body, it is not until I took a mindfulness class that I realized how mindfulness is as important as, if not more than the food we consume. I decided that focusing on mindfulness was one of the best tools to improve overall health. Someone can, after all, eat all the right food but still not be healthy. One must pay attention to everything that we consume, not just food. The teacher in me then decided it was time to finally get my health coaching certificate so I could help and support more people beyond friends and family. As a certified health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, I am able to see each client in a very holistic way. Together we focus on all aspects of life, not just the food we put in our mouth. There is nothing that makes me happier than to be able to help my clients identify ways to reconnect with themselves and heal their mind, body and soul. With my expertise, tools, resources and support, I will guide and assist you in achieving your desired goals.

I am also educated and trained in the applications of Polyvagal Theory ( from Stephen Porges & Deb Dana) which enables me to support clients and help them understand how their nervous system works and that being aware of their biology and how they operate helps them recover from physically and emotional ailments recover more quickly. Managing and understanding our nervous system is a very essential part of healing that is rarely addressed. Doing so often gives clients a sense of relief as they learn that their ailment is not their fault- it's simply biology. In the last few years, more and more people have been suffering from limbic system impairment. The world we live in, especially post pandemic is not what it used to be. However, this is also a time where more and more people want to free themselves from their past, bad habits, trauma, stress and heal in a profound way so they can live the life they seek. With my training in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy, I have had the privilege to learn techniques from the most experienced trauma and somatic teachers. Applying these techniques in my coaching has had a tremendous impact on my client's lives and success.

In my free time, I like to spend time in nature. Things that bring me joy are animals, my friends and family, trees, hiking, photography, theater/ dance, acting/ improv and of course cooking delicious meals or creating new juices/ smoothies.

Besides being a certified international health coach ( from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and the International Association for Health Coaches), I also have over 20 years experience teaching. I hold a BA in International Diplomacy & Culture, a TESOL certificate and an MA in International Education Management . I have enjoyed working in schools and non-profit organizations and higher education universities for several years.
I am excited to announce that I am currently also merging all my expertise and bringing more of my services to schools and organizations, offering workshops that will bring valuable tools to students, faculty and staff.
I am fluent in French and can offer my services in French at no additional cost. I am proficient in Spanish and very basic Portuguese and currently learning Italian and Irish. Learning languages and new skills are great ways to keep our brain neuroplastic which if you work with me, you will discover, is an important part of remaining healthy! :-)
